Things to know about PTC Sites

PTC stands for paid to click. In very simple terms, you click on an ad and you get paid.

Billions of dollars are spent every year on the internet for marketing of goods and services. There are many companies who take these advertisements for a fee and actually pay their members to click on these advertisements.

The companies that take the ads and pay people to click on the ads are called PTC Companies...or also Paid To Click companies.

They allow people who are searching for home business ideas to join for free and earn money by clicking on their advertiser's ads. The amount you earn by clicking on an ad can vary from 2 cents to less than 1 cent. The ad usually run from 30 seconds to 5 seconds and a timer is displayed to tell you how many seconds are left.

You can only see one ad from each company at a time...but some PTC programs continue their timer even if you open an ad from another PTC company in another tab. A few PTC companies stop their timer if you leave the ad page, however.

That means that for many ptc programs you can actually have several ads running in different tabs at the same time. We still see the ads and the advertiser is still getting their product or service seen but by having several ads running at the same time you can see many more ads...and make more money faster.

One problem that concerns some people when considering ptc programs is that ...
"simply clicking ads alone doesn't make a lot of money!"

That is one reason the ptc companies offer what they call “referrals”.

Upgrading means that you pay for the higher level membership that gives you more ads to click, a slightly higher click value per click and a higher percentage of your referral’s click earnings.

Referrals are other people who have joined the PTC program.

The owners of the PTC programs allow you to rent or even buy referrals and you get a percentage of the money they make by their clicks.

You can even advertise for your own referrals on other ptc sites or other places on the internet.

You insure that the new member will join under you (as a referral of yours) is by using your “referral link”.

When a new member joins using your referral link they are called a direct referral.

A referral link is simply the web site address (URL) of the PTC program's web site with your user name attached to it. The URL (web site address) is what you type or copy into your browser.

Your username is simply a nickname you use on the PTC site to avoid using your real name. It can be just about anything you want it to be. A lot of people use a part of their email address and some use a part of their real name.

If a new member joins using your referral link, they are place under you. The people under you are called your downline.

That means that they are working for you. You get a portion of the money they earn for clicking ads. If you have a lot of referrals you can make more money..IF they continue to click ads.

Therein lies the basic problem:
  • MOST of your referrals will click a few ads and QUIT! Whatever you spent advertising for them is wasted.
  • A few will continue to click ads so the owners of the ptc programs allow you to EXTEND those referrals if you rented them. If you bought them and they don’t click ads you are stuck with them.

EXTENDING a rented referral means that you pay a small fee to rent them again.

The opposite of extending a referral is RECYCLING a referral. That simply means that you are “trading them in” for a new referral…for a small fee.
